چکیده
We study a partial differential relation that arises in the context of the Born–Infeld equations (an extension of Maxwell's equations) by using Gromov's method of convex integration in the setting of divergence-free fields.

Supersymmetric Born-Infeld from the Pure Spinor Formalism of the Open Superstring
Classical BRST invariance in the pure spinor formalism for the open superstring is shown to imply the supersymmetric Born-Infeld equations of motion for the background fields. These equations are obtained by requiring that the left and right-moving BRST currents are equal on the worldsheet boundary in the presence of the background. The Born-Infeld equations are expressed in N=1 D=10 superspace...
متن کاملDiscretized Yang-Mills and Born-Infeld actions on finite group geometries
Discretized nonabelian gauge theories living on finite group spaces G are defined by means of a geometric action ∫ Tr F ∧ ∗F . This technique is extended to obtain discrete versions of the Born-Infeld action. The discretizations are in 1-1 correspondence with differential calculi on finite groups. A consistency condition for duality invariance of the discretized field equations is derived for d...
متن کاملBorn-Infeld String as a Boundary Conformal Field Theory
Solutions of Born-Infeld theory, representing strings extending from a Dirichlet p-brane, are also solutions of the higher derivative generalization of the Born-Infeld equations defining an exact open string vacuum configuration.
متن کاملSuperbranes and Super Born-Infeld Theories from Nonlinear Realizations
We describe, on a few instructive examples, a systematic way of deducing the superfield equations of motion of superbranes in the approach of partial breaking of global supersymmetry (PBGS) from the nonlinear-realizations formalism. For D-branes these equations simultaneously represent the appropriate supersymmetric Born-Infeld theories. We also discuss how to construct an off-shell superfield ...
متن کاملEinstein-born-infeld-abelian-higgs Model
We consider the classical equations of the Born-Infeld-Abelian-Higgs model (with and without coupling to gravity) in an axially symmetric ansatz. A numerical analysis of the equations reveals that the (gravitating) Nielsen-Olesen vortices are smoothly deformed by the Born-Infeld interaction, characterized by a coupling constant β 2 , and that these solutions cease to exist at a critical value o...
